Bronwyn Newport is a self-proclaimed dog lover, but she wasn’t a fan of seeing dog poop all over her house on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.
“I did not know until I saw the episode,” Bronwyn, 39, exclusively told Us Weekly on Monday, November 18, while discussing her house faux pas from season 5 of the Bravo reality television show.
The newest Housewife revealed she was “mortified” when she realized the cameras captured dog poop in multiple rooms of her house while she was showing Heather Gay around the space during season 5, episode 8.
“My daughter is kind of the dog whisper in our house, and she came to me when she saw the episode and she was like, ‘I am so embarrassed. Our house is so clean. How could this be what it looks like?’” Bronwyn recalled. “And I was like, ‘Well, I guess that’s what it was that day.’”
During the episode, Heather, 50, took multiple digs at Bronwyn’s home, which was unfinished, and the animal remains she saw while inside.
“I’ve never been in Heather’s house, so I cannot return the compliment or lack of,” Bronwyn teased, admitting that Heather’s negative remarks were “fair” at that time. “I was out of control, busy that day. I had a new puppy. It was snowing and it [was] totally on me,” she added. “If the camera crews caught the poop in my house, I would’ve showed [it] if I was production too.”
The women also butted heads during the episode after Bronwyn tried to get Heather to apologize for being mean to her in the past. When Heather didn’t take accountability for her alleged actions, Bronwyn opted not to invite her on a group trip to Palm Springs.
“I understand Heather and I were not friends. We were not in a great place. We had a very rough conversation that day,” Bronwyn told Us of Heather’s misconception of her eclectic home décor.
She confessed, “I might’ve been shady about anything I could have been if I was Heather too, and I gave her good reason. There was dog poop on my floor. My house was being remodeled.”
Bronwyn recalled Heather seeing every blemish that existed in the home during her house visit. “She didn’t miss an opportunity to take a lick,” she said.
Bronwyn and Heather remained at odds after the awkward poop situation and Heather’s exclusion from the Palm Springs outing. However, Bronwyn told Us that there’s more to their story that fans will see play out the rest of the season.
“I think Heather is really witty. I would love to be friends with Heather. I also am happy to stay frenemies because I like arguing with Heather,” Bronwyn revealed, noting that she took Whitney Rose saying that “Heather met her match” with her as a “compliment.”
Bronwyn described Heather as “really quick,” and “really smart,” which she believes makes their dynamic interesting. “She’s a formidable opponent, so I appreciate that the other ladies see me as a formidable opponent too,” she added.
Looking forward, Bronwyn teased, “Heather and I are figuring it out.” She shared that in the upcoming RHOSLC episodes, “You’ll see we have some resolution to come. We have some ups and downs.”
The fashionista added, “I think Heather and I are very similar, and if we get on a good page, I think we’ll stay on a good page. And I think we’re close to that. So I’m hopeful.”
Bronwyn is also hopeful that Bravo will give her a second chance to show off her house — sans dog poop and, instead, full of unique decorations.
“I am dying for Bravo to have me back for another season because I feel like people need to see I do not live in this mausoleum of emptiness,” she joked. “My house is finally almost all the way done.”
Bronwyn said she and husband Todd Bradley now have furniture and art on the walls. “It’s not like, ‘Hello, hello, hello’ in this empty house anymore,” she said, making an echoing sound.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City airs on Bravo Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
