Los Angeles-based Tutor Perini and its Black Construction subsidiary hit paydirt with a $113.3 million contract to build a missile integration test facility at U.S. Naval Base Guam, the contractor announced this week.
Commissioned by the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command for the Pacific, the project includes the construction of a single-story, 57,664-square-foot missile integration test facility on a deep pile foundation.
The test facility will support missile processing spaces, a missile test cell with a control room, an administration area and storage and utility rooms.
Beyond building the structure itself, the joint venture’s scope of work also includes demolition of an existing building, associated site improvements and other supporting facilities at the base on Guam, a U.S. territory located approximately 3,300 miles west of Hawaii.
The project also specifies plumbing, air conditioning and ventilation, lighting and electrical power, telecommunications, life safety and fire protection systems, an emergency power generator and an associated fuel tank, according to the news release.
Another California-based contractor has landed a job on the island as well. Granite Construction, headquartered in Watsonville, recently won another $113 million contract to build facilities at Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz.
