Motor Auction Group (MAG) has acquired a five-acre site in Goole, Yorkshire, investing £5m to establish a state-of-the-art dedicated light commercial vehicle (LCV) auction centre.
Scheduled to open in Q1 2025, the new site is strategically located just 0.5 miles from junction 36 of the M62 and close to the M18 and A1M.
The site is well-equipped with a spacious office building, refurbishment facilities, EV chargers, and hardstanding to accommodate over 600 LCVs. MAG also plans to add a purpose-built auction hall and vehicle inspection facility.
The Goole facility will handle over 12,000 LCVs annually, holding two physical auctions each week. Initially, it will begin with one auction per week, scaling up as volumes grow. The site will also provide comprehensive pre- and post-auction services for vendors and buyers.
This expansion aims to address capacity constraints at MAG’s Bawtry site, where weekly LCV sales have outgrown existing facilities. Additionally, the Goole site will relieve pressure on MAG’s 10-acre Rotherham headquarters, enabling further growth in its dealer, fleet, and finance sales programmes.
In addition to physical auctions, MAG continues to host twice-weekly timed LCV auctions at its Corby digital “centre of excellence.” The Bawtry site will remain dedicated to specialist auctions, such as the successful Arnold Clark “Centre for a Day” events held in 2024.
“In the last 18 months we have seen a significant increase in volume in our LCV auction programme. We are proud to announce this substantial investment to further support our national and regional LCV customers,” said Matt Gill, director of MAG.
“The Goole site provides us with the space we need to continue to grow and its proximity to three major motorways puts it within easy reach for our vendors and buyers. It will be one of the most modern facilities of its kind in the country, and we very much look forward to welcoming existing and new customers when it opens at the end of Q1.”
