2024 St. Jude Championship purse, prize money: Payouts from $20M pool for first FedEx Cup Playoffs event

The regular season may be over, but that does not mean the PGA Tour’s big-money payouts have come to an end for the year. Transitioning to the postseason, the PGA Tour rewarded those who qualified for the 2024 St. Jude Championship — and the next two weeks of the FedEx Cup Playoffs — quite handsomely starting with a $20 million prize pool that was up for grabs in Memphis.

This sum falls in line with the eight signature events from the regular season. The winner’s share, which goes to 2024 champion Hideki Matsuyama, stands at $3.6 million — just like five of the signature events with the Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational and Memorial shelling out a bit more at $4 million for their champions.

More times than not this season, it has been Scottie Scheffler emerging victorious from those big-money tournaments; he has four signature-event wins under his belt in 2024. Scheffler has collected $15.2 million in just winner’s checks alone and has accumulated north of $28 million so far this season. This has propelled him all the way up to fifth in PGA Tour’s career money leaders with a shade over $70 million to his name.

Here are your eight winners from signature events this season:

  • The Sentry: Chris Kirk ($3.6 million)
  • Pebble Beach Pro Am: Wyndham Clark ($3.6 million)
  • Genesis Invitational: Hideki Matsuyama ($4 million)
  • Arnold Palmer Invitational: Scottie Scheffler ($4 million)
  • RBC Heritage: Scottie Scheffler ($3.6 million)
  • Wells Fargo Championship: Rory McIlroy ($3.6 million)
  • The Memorial Tournament: Scottie Scheffler ($4 million)
  • Travelers Championship: Scottie Scheffler ($3.6 million)

Matsuyama is not the only player who walked through Memphis with a smile on his face, though, as everyone inside the top 11 cleared at least $500,000. Those inside the top 36 will see six figures hit their bank accounts, while everyone in the field will be taking home a paycheck with last place receiving $40,000.

Let’s take a look at the payout list for the 70 players who in attendance at the 2024 St. Jude Championship. The top 10 are listed, and the rest can be viewed on the complete leaderboard.
