Café Tabec – Alternative Film Club
Furnished with charming décor, Café Tabec is a great venue for a night of film watching. A relaxed venue, hold host to an intimate film room, partitioned off from the café (although you can have meals in there while watching the screening) it makes a refreshing change from all gathering around a television in someone's flat; with a large projector complete with authentic theatrical curtains and framed images from Man Ray and film noir stills.
Take the opportunity to screen one of your favourite films on a large screen or choose one of a cult classics or alternative cinema from the bar staff's collection, but don't forget to ask for the subtitles on as it can get a bit busy. It didn't seem to be a big issue for customers to take their own sweets to watch their movie, as well as being metres away from a fully stocked(although a little on the pricey side) bar. Worth popping inside the café itself if your in the area as it is also host to music nights, although it's not very well advertised on it's website.
The food isn't the fastest to be served although it is worth going for the atmosphere, a laid back way to spend an evening, maybe a boring Mid-semester Tuesday for a change of scenery.
Summary: Not the best Café in Liverpool, but worth a look for something a bit different.
