Best New Society Award 2009

Don't Be A Clown
PDF Print E-mail Written by Katie Upton
A JMU student has beaten dozens of other UK filmmakers to win a Home Office prize.

Will Walters, a second year student in Media Production Studies with Television, was awarded the ‘Lights, Camera, Action!’ prize for his short film about distraction burglary. The brief for the film was to inform students of the dangers of distraction burglary.

The film features fellow JMU students distracted by a clown who then steals valuables while at a party. Walters' winning film may now be used in a campaign as part of Welcome Week 2010.

Speaking to Looprevil Press, Will, 20, said: “I’m happy with the win and thankful for the support I received from friends and family.” So what next for the budding producer?  “I’m currently working on a Nokia advert for the Tribeca film festival this summer and I’ve a few other short films in the pipeline.”
