Secure that bike!
PDF Print E-mail Written by Jayesh Patel
Been a victim of having your bike stolen? Or have you ever been or are worried about your bike being stolen? Well look no further because Merseyside Police may just have the answer to your worries.
On Saturday 27th February, Merseyside Police will be on Church Street, between Marks and Spencer and Topman, in their Mobile Police Station between 11am and 4pm giving out free “ImmobiTags”. ImmobiTags is a radio frequency identification device (RFID) which is embedded into a bike’s frame and nearly impossible to remove. Each tag contains a unique serial number which is linked directly to all UK Police forces and to the National Second-hand trade stolen property database.

All ImmobiTags are activated online at Immobilise.com. If your bike is stolen, you simply change the bike’s status in your online account which then notifies the Police and the second-hand trade. This also helps in creating a certificate of keepership which can help in the completion of an insurance claim. The recommended retail price is £13.99. There is no annual subscription and no updating fees.

Taking into account that a bike is stolen every 71 seconds in the UK, a free ImmobiTag might possibly be the best way to keep your bike safe at all times. So go along on Saturday to see what all the fuss is about!
