The Advice Centre Can Help You
Recently LSU’s Independent Advice Centre hit the £193,445 mark on the total they have recovered for students that have sought help and advice regarding problems with accommodation, deposits, etc. They have also recently helped students protect over £30,000 in deposits.
The service is invaluable to many students. Tom Hudson, a 2nd year LJMU student recently said of the Advice Centre, “The support I received was extremely helpful and instantly got results. I very much doubt that without the help of the Advice Centre I would still be a LJMU student”. However, the Advice Centre think not enough students get to benefit from the service because they don’t know it exists and they want to change this. Eddy Symondson, LSU President says “We want to get the message out there to students that if they have a problem; the Advice Centre is here to try to help them. They are independent from the university and the service they provide is professional and confidential. They are always busy dealing with student enquiries but would love to see more students using the service”.
With this in mind the Advice Centre now has an experienced adviser who will be based in the Byrom Street Campus in Room 3.04 every Monday morning between 10am-1pm and at the I M Marsh campus (Iain Newman Building) every Tuesday 10am-1pm.
There is also a drop in Advice Service at the LSU Student Union Building (1st floor, Haigh Building):
Mon 1pm-4pm
Tue 10am-1pm
Wed 10am-4pm
Thurs 10am-1pm
Fri 10am-4pm
They can advise you on a number of issues including:
