Glee Has Arrived - In All Its Singing and Dancing Glory.

Did you tune into Glee last Monday on E4?  Yes?  No?  Well, you should have.  After rocking through the TV ratings figures in the US, and blowing up a storm in the iTunes chart, hit new all singing, all dancing, high school drama Glee, has finally settled upon our shores, and it did not fail to impress.Set in the fictional William McKinley High School, Ohio, the show focuses on Spanish teacher Will Schuester’s attempts to form a show choir, or glee club at the school.  What this show does best, is that it takes the stereotypical high school drama, and turns it on his head.  Each character is not what they seem, and this allows the script to be incredibly funny and original, and appeal to a larger audience.

You may be expecting Glee to be very High School Musical – it isn’t.  It is almost the exact opposite.  Yes, there is lots of singing and dancing, but rarely is Glee cheap or tacky.  Story lines are much more realistic than the Disney-proof High School Musical, and the songs and script reaffirm this.  From the school’s hot couple Finn and Quinn, and the fact she won’t sleep with him as she’s President of the Celibacy Club, to Kurt’s closeted sexuality, Glee tackles all of this with wit and humour.Having had a sneaky preview of the rest of the season, I can honestly say that Glee is yet to put a foot wrong.  There is not a single character you won’t love, or love to hate (in the case of Sue Sylvester, she just makes me giggle with her villainy).  Glee will have you on the edge of your seat, wishing and hoping that things go the way you predict.

There are twists aplenty too, so keep watching, and singing, your way through what is turning out to be the show of the decade already. Oh, and if you haven’t heard, all the songs performed in Glee will be available to download from iTunes after each episode.

Head over their now to choose from a great selection, including Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believing’, Amy Winehouse’s ‘Rehab’, Kanye West’s ‘Gold Digger’, Salt-N-Pepa’s ‘Push It’ and Rihanna’s ‘Take A Bow’, all performed by the cast members of Glee.
